About the SLP
As the 2019-20 school year gets into full swing, I’d like to introduce myself. My name is Miss. Ford and I will be the K-3rd speech-language pathologist (SLP) at Roosevelt Magnet School. It’s going to be another fantastic year full of learning and exploring for both me and your student. This is my second year working in Peoria District 150 and I am so excited to work with your student! Communication is the key to human connection and aids in learning. Everyone deserves to have a voice!
Pick-up for speech-language services is set to begin Monday, August 26th. The first 10 days of the school year are set aside for the speech-language staff to conduct grade level screenings, locate each student on his/her caseload, speak with teachers, review files and set up a therapy schedule. Therapeutic services will follow the plan outlined in your student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP). Throughout the year I anticipate meeting with each of you and discussing your child’s progress at IEP meetings to which either I or a special education teacher/coordinator will send you a formal written notice at least 10 days in advance of the meeting. I encourage you to contact me at school as soon as any questions/concerns arise, or if you would just like to introduce yourself to me. You can also get my contact information and at home practice ideas for your student via my staff webpage at www.psd150.org, selecting Roosevelt Magnet School, then “Staff,” and clicking on my name. I wish to assure parents that I will work hard with your student to make the year successful, and that I look forward to your support and cooperation to help your child achieve his/her goals. Let’s have a wonderful and productive school year!
